American singer Chris Brown’s former housekeeper, Maria Avila, has asked a Los Angeles judge to issue an arrest warrant for the musician amid an ongoing dispute over the collection of a multimillion-dollar judgment arising from a 2020 dog attack at his California home.
According to a report by TMZ published on October 12, 2026, Avila wants Brown arrested over his alleged failure to provide dates for a court-ordered examination of his finances, which she says is necessary to establish how the judgment can be paid
Avila was initially awarded approximately $12.9 million by a jury after suing Brown over injuries she said she sustained when his dog attacked her at his Tarzana residence in December 2020.
However, a judge subsequently offered her the option of accepting a reduced award or facing another trial on damages. She accepted the reduced amount, reported as $9.5 million, according to TMZ.
The latest dispute centres on the enforcement of that judgment rather than a new lawsuit over the original incident.
Avila reportedly alleges that Brown has failed to provide suitable dates for an appearance at which he would be required to produce financial records.
She maintains that the information already supplied is incomplete and raises questions about the disclosure of income connected to his ongoing music tour.
Her legal team is seeking information about Brown’s finances to determine how the outstanding judgment can be recovered.
The singer has previously faced efforts by Avila to obtain a portion of his earnings from touring and royalties.
In August, a Los Angeles judge reportedly granted her request to assign certain tour-related income and royalties towards satisfying the judgment, despite Brown’s objection.
Brown is currently co-headlining The R&B Tour with fellow American singer Usher, making his touring income a significant focus of the collection dispute.
The arrest-warrant request does not mean Brown has been arrested or that a judge has granted the application. Its outcome will depend on the court’s consideration of the relevant filings and applicable legal requirements.
The case has attracted considerable attention because of the size of the award and the prospect of court action involving one of the world’s best-known R&B performers.
Brown has not publicly responded to the latest request in the reports cited by TMZ and Complex.
For Avila, the immediate objective is to secure payment of the damages awarded in connection with the dog attack. For Brown, the dispute represents a continuing legal challenge over the enforcement of that judgment.
The next developments will depend on the court’s response to Avila’s application and whether the parties can resolve the outstanding financial issues.
