American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been caught up in fresh controversy following reports that he suffered a head injury during an alleged prison fight with convicted Jamaican drug trafficker Christopher “Dudus” Coke.
According to celebrity news outlet TMZ, the reported altercation occurred on Friday, October 9, at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, where Combs is serving a prison sentence.
However, the allegations remain disputed. In a report published on October 15, TMZ quoted a spokesperson for the US Bureau of Prisons as saying the alleged confrontation was false and “did not happen.” The agency declined to provide further details about the circumstances surrounding Combs’ reported injury.
In its initial report, TMZ said multiple sources inside the prison claimed Combs and Coke had exchanged blows, leaving the rapper with a head injury that required emergency medical attention.
The outlet reported that an ambulance left the facility at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, to transport Combs to an outside medical facility. He was reportedly returned to prison before sunrise, conscious and able to speak.
People magazine also reported that Combs sustained a head injury during an alleged altercation with a convicted drug lord, citing a source familiar with the incident.
Earlier reports had offered a different explanation for the injury. Page Six reported that Combs may have struck his head against a bunk bed, while his family subsequently disputed claims that he had been involved in a fight.
Alleged dispute over prison privileges
TMZ’s account suggested that the reported confrontation may have been connected to controversy surrounding allegations that Combs enjoyed special privileges while incarcerated.
In a September 29 report, NBC News cited four men who had spent time in the same prison unit as Combs.
They alleged that the hip-hop star had access to contraband mobile phones, alcohol, specially prepared meals and personal services from fellow inmates.
The report also alleged that some inmates performed chores for Combs, including washing his clothes, making his bed and cleaning his living area.
Following the publicity, Combs was reportedly moved to a Special Housing Unit, commonly associated with restrictive confinement.
TMZ subsequently claimed that prison authorities conducted searches and confiscated mobile phones from inmates.
According to sources cited by the outlet, some prisoners believed the attention surrounding Combs had prompted increased scrutiny of the facility.
The allegation that this frustration led to a fight with Coke has not been independently established.
Who is Christopher “Dudus” Coke?
Coke is a notorious Jamaican organised-crime figure who led the Shower Posse criminal organisation.
He was extradited to the United States in 2010 and sentenced in 2012 to 23 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit assault in aid of racketeering.
He became internationally known after deadly violence erupted in Kingston, Jamaica, during efforts to arrest him in 2010.
Combs faces further scrutiny
Combs, 56, is serving a 50-month federal sentence following his 2025 conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges.
His reported head injury has generated renewed questions about his safety and disciplinary record behind bars.
Nevertheless, the central allegation remains unconfirmed, with prison authorities explicitly denying that the reported fight occurred.
Until further evidence emerges, claims that Coke assaulted Combs should be treated as allegations rather than established fact.
