A Nigerian community in North west part of the country has become the epicenter of a recent latest mass kidnapping that now underscores the worsening insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest, as armed gangs continue to target rural communities despite ongoing military operations.
At least 52 people was kidnapped by heavily armed gunmen during a late-night raid in Kasuwar Daji village in the Kaura Namoda local government area community in Zamfara state northwest Nigeria, according to local residents and community leaders says this incident is yet another mass abduction that highlights the persistent security crisis in the region.
This latest mass kidnapping occurred midnight on Saturday into Sunday August 2nd 2026.
The attackers, believed to be members of armed criminal gangs commonly referred to as bandits, stormed the village under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically to create panic before rounding up dozens of residents. Witnesses said the gunmen moved from house to house, forcing victims from their homes before marching them into nearby forests.
