US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, urging Tehran to quickly meet Washington’s demands over its nuclear programme as tensions between both nations continue to rise.

“Iran can’t get their act together… They better get smart soon,” Trump said in a social media post, reflecting growing frustration over stalled negotiations.

The warning comes as the United States ramps up economic pressure on Iran, including a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports. Reports suggest the Trump administration may keep the blockade in place until Tehran agrees to dismantle critical parts of its nuclear programme.

Iran has proposed a framework aimed at reducing tensions in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, where recent disruptions have unsettled global energy markets. The proposal reportedly includes a partial reopening of the waterway in exchange for the removal of US retaliatory measures while wider talks continue.

However, Tehran has rejected what it calls excessive American demands. Iranian officials insist the country will not yield to pressure, with defense spokesperson Reza Talaei-Nik saying Washington is no longer in a position to impose terms on sovereign nations.

Despite renewed diplomatic efforts, both sides remain far apart. Iran has also warned it still has significant options if hostilities resume, highlighting the fragile state of the standoff.

The crisis has already triggered major economic fallout, pushing global oil prices higher and worsening hardship inside Iran, where the national currency has plunged to record lows against the US dollar.

With international concerns growing, the confrontation continues to pose serious risks to regional stability, global energy supplies and diplomatic relations across the Middle East.
