Hollywood icon Johnny Depp has officially entered the booming celebrity spirits market with Three Hearts Rum, marking a significant new chapter in his creative and business ventures.
This latest move by Pirates of the Caribbean star follows a growing trend of stars launching their own liquor brands, Depp joins the ranks of celebrity spirits entrepreneurs such as Beyoncé, Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney, carving out his own space in the world of premium rum.
Depp best known for his legendary portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise teamed up with longtime friend and business partner Bobby DeLeon to create Three Hearts, a Caribbeaninspired rum that reflects Depp’s deep personal connection to the islands.
A Rum Seven Years in the Making
The inaugural release, Three Hearts First Edition, is a superpremium rum produced in the Dominican Republic, where the spirit was aged for seven years using traditional methods.
The liquid spent five years in exbourbon barrels with a hint of oloroso influence before being finished for two additional years in exCognac barrels, resulting in a rich, layered profile that fans describe as having notes of toffee, spices, candied orange and vanilla.
Symbolism, Storytelling and Personal Touches
Unlike many celebritybranded bottles that lean heavily on name recognition, Three Hearts is deeply personal for Depp. Not only was the bottle design sketched by Depp himself, but it also incorporates symbolic elements from his life including embossed imagery like skulls, lightning bolts and three hearts representing his children and former partner reflecting the actor’s personal philosophy and life story. The brand’s motto, “No Fear. No Malice. No Envy.”, is inscribed on each bottle.
Launch Celebration and Market Debut
Depp and DeLeon celebrated the launch at a starstudded event on March 31, 2026 at The Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, featuring live music, curated cocktails like the “3 Hearts Libre” and intimate tastings of the new rum.
At the event, Depp playfully declared the spirit “Captain Jack Sparrow approved,” a nod to his iconic pirate role and a likely marketing advantage given the character’s association with rum in popular culture.
Future Plans and Caribbean Connection
Three Hearts Rum is now available for preorder online in the U.S. and select international markets, priced around US $69.99 per 70 cl bottle.
The founders have indicated that this is just the beginning, future expressions are planned to celebrate the distinct rummaking traditions and cultural heritage of other Caribbean regions, further underscoring Depp’s passion for and longstanding bond with the islands.
