Background & Career
Wale Tinubu is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous energy conglomerates.
He began his career as a lawyer in 1990, specializing in corporate & petroleum law. In 1994 co-founded Ocean & Oil Group, which later became part of Oando.
Under his leadership, Oando transformed from a downstream petroleum marketing company into an integrated energy group spanning trading, supply, E&P, etc.
Education:
He studied law (LLB) at the University of Liverpool, further education at London School of Economics, and attended Nigerian Law School.
Key Achievements & Highlights:
Received a Lifetime Achievement Award at African Energy Week 2025 in recognition of his contributions to Africa’s energy sector.
His company’s evolution is a case study in indigenous capacity building in an industry often dominated by multinationals.
