The search for the next James Bond appears to be gathering momentum, with Hollywood actors Jacob Elordi and Jack Lowden reportedly emerging as potential contenders to play the legendary British secret agent in the next instalment of the long-running film franchise.

Entertainment industry speculation has intensified as producers prepare for a new chapter following Daniel Craig’s departure from the role after No Time to Die, released in 2021.

The next actor to portray Agent 007 will inherit one of cinema’s most recognisable characters, with expectations high for a fresh interpretation of the suave, resourceful and dangerous spy.

According to insider reports attributed to entertainment journalist Jordan Ruimy, Elordi, Lowden and an undisclosed third actor have featured among names being discussed in connection with the casting process.

However, no official confirmation has been issued identifying the final candidates or establishing that a decision has been made.

Elordi, known for his performances in Euphoria and Saltburn, has become one of the most talked-about young actors in Hollywood.

His screen presence, growing international profile and ability to portray complex characters could make him an intriguing choice for a franchise seeking to appeal to a new generation of filmgoers.

At 29, the Australian actor would also offer the possibility of a longer tenure as Bond, depending on the direction and timeline of future productions.

Lowden, meanwhile, brings a different set of credentials. The Scottish actor, recognised for his role as River Cartwright in the espionage series Slow Horses, has considerable experience portraying intelligence operatives.

His familiarity with the world of undercover missions, political intrigue and British security services could give him an advantage if the filmmakers favour an actor with an established connection to the spy genre.

His performances in Dunkirk and other dramatic productions have also demonstrated his versatility, strengthening his profile as a possible candidate for the coveted role.

Beyond the reported names, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor have also been mentioned in speculation surrounding the shortlist.

Turner, whose credits include Masters of the Air and Fantastic Beasts, has attracted attention for his leading-man qualities and experience in action-oriented productions. O’Connor, celebrated for his performance as Prince Charles in The Crown and his role in Challengers, offers a different screen persona, combining dramatic depth with a growing international reputation.

Both actors have been linked to discussions about the next Bond, although the extent of their involvement in any formal selection process remains unclear.

The casting decision is expected to shape the franchise’s future, particularly as its creative team considers how to balance Bond’s established traditions with contemporary storytelling.

The next film could introduce a younger interpretation of the character while preserving the suspense, sophisticated action and international intrigue that have defined the series for decades.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement. Until the producers confirm their choice, the names circulating in entertainment reports remain possibilities rather than a definitive list of finalists.
